 Backroads Coffee is the title sponsor for Hayward's newest event, The Backroads Banderdinker™, which will be held on Nelson Lake on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Last year's event drew hundreds of kayakers and outdoors enthusiasts for this “fun paddle” around Big Island on Nelson Lake.
Backroads is selling 12oz. Banderdinker™ Brew, 12oz. Dinker Dark Roast and Banderdinker™ Brew Decaf to support the event.
New in 2012, the Banderdinker™ will host two divisions: a Dinker Division and a Dash the Dinker Division. The Dinker Division is a non-competitive 8km paddle around the Big Island of Nelson Lake, with entertainment along the way including banjos, fiddles and fun surprises! The Dash the Dinker Division follows the same route as the Dinker Division, but is a longer 7-mile option for more experienced paddlers.

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Bib pick-up from the HACC, which allows for fast path check-in the following morning.
Saturday, June 9, 2012 @ Gerlach Landing, Nelson Lake
7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. — Boat drop-off, final bib pick-up, fast path check-in
8:30 a.m. — Safety meeting at the shore of Gerlach Landing
9 a.m. — Dash the Dinker start
9:05 a.m. — Dinker Division start
11:30 a.m. — Door prizes, awards and lunch available at Gerlach Landing
noon — Silent auction concludes
 Backroads Coffee & Tea brews three custom roast coffees in support of the LoonWatch program, a part of the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute at Northland College in Ashland.
Entitled Tremolo Joe, Yodeling Joe, and Wailing Joe, these new roasts are derived from hand-selected, shade grown and fair trade coffee beans cultivated in the Kabuk region near the Guatemalan border.
For each bag sold, Backroads Coffee will donate a portion of the sale to LoonWatch and its mission to monitor and research one of Wisconsin's most revered aviaries: The Common Loon.
Known for its stunning beauty and unique voice, the loon is a widely-recognized element of the northern Wisconsin ecosystem. LoonWatch is helping raise awareness for this animal by examining how loons are impacted by pollution, loss of habitat and increased human activities to help understand how to protect these vital creatures.

We begin by using only 100% Arabica coffee beans, which are universally considered the world's finest. We also sample or "cup" coffee from every bag of beans we purchase. By roasting our coffee in small batches, and by cupping again, we further ensure consistency of quality from batch to batch. Finally, our coffee has no time to lose its precious flavor.
